Daily program: Overcross the Peruvian Andes!
Day 1: Welcome to Peru!
Upon arrival at Lima International Airport (Jorge Chávez), a representative from Peru 4×4 Adventures / Quality Travel International will be waiting for you. From there, the transfer to the hotel will take place. Arrival and check-in (3:00 PM). Brief briefing about the expedition and the use of the 4×4 vehicles as well as safety regulations, etc. Overnight stay.
Day 2: Lima - Paracas (260 km)
Breakfast at the hotel. At an agreed time, the 4x4 vehicle is brought to the hotel and a short briefing about the expedition and the use of the 4x4 vehicles as well as safety regulations, etc. takes place. Departure with the 4x4 vehicles in the direction of Paracas. On the way, visit to the archaeological site "Tambo Colorado", an Inca settlement (1450 AD) in the province of Pisco. The name was given due to the predominance of the red color in the buildings. It is an ensemble of mud walls and adobe structures; among them are the best-preserved ruins in Peru. Arrival at the hotel and check-in. Overnight stay in Paracas.
Day 3: Paracas - Nazca (220 km)
Breakfast at the hotel. At 08:00 excursion to the Ballestas Islands, where you can observe Humboldt penguins and sea lions. Afterwards visit to the Paracas National Reserve, a protected area that safeguards the various animal and plant species living there. Visit to the Bay of Independencia and then continue to Ica. There you can visit the Huacachina oasis and then continue to Nazca. If time allows, visit the María Reiche Museum. Arrival and transfer to the hotel. Overnight stay in Nazca.
Day 4: Nazca
Breakfast at the hotel. However, we recommend having breakfast only after the flight over the Nazca Lines (flight dependent on weather conditions). This enormous ensemble of geoglyphs includes a network of lines as well as animal and plant figures attributed to the Nazca culture, covering an area of about 350 km². Among the main figures, we can admire the hummingbird, the dog, the monkey, the astronaut, etc. After the flight over the Nazca Lines, guided visit to the archaeological complex (pyramid) of Cahuachi. This was a religious and ceremonial center located 28 km from the city of Nazca, believed to be where the Nazca Lines originated. Cahuachi is also considered the largest city made of sand and clay in the world, covering an area of more than 24 square kilometers. Afterwards, return to the hotel. Overnight stay in Nazca.
Day 5: Nazca - Abancay (460 km)
Breakfast at the hotel. We recommend an early breakfast at the hotel to set off from Nazca to Abancay on time. On your journey, you will visit Pampas Galeras, known as one of the most important vicuña reserves in South America and the largest in the world. If time permits and it is open, the local vicuña museum can also be visited. The drive passes through Puquio and by the Yauriviru Lagoon at 4,400 m above sea level, with a short stop in the city of Abancay. Arrival in Abancay. Overnight stay in Abancay.
Day 6: Abancay - Sacred Valley (Total 205 km)
Breakfast at the hotel. On the route from Abancay to Cusco, you have the opportunity to visit the Inca Tambo of Tarawasi as well as the famous circularly carved stone of Saywite, which is 2.5 meters high. In its engravings, you can recognize flora and fauna as well as topographical landscapes of the Inca Empire. Afterwards, continue to the Sacred Valley in Cusco. Overnight stay in Urubamba.
Day 7: Sacred Valley of the Incas
Breakfast in the hotel. Full-day trip to the Sacred Valley of the Incas with a visit to the salt mines of Maras, the site of Moray, and the fortress of Ollantaytambo. Return to Urubamba. In the afternoon, return of the 4x4 vehicle. Overnight stay in Urubamba.
Day 8: Sacred Valley of the Incas - Machu Picchu
Sacred Valley - Machu Picchu - Cusco Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the train station in Ollantaytambo. Departure by train to Aguas Calientes, where you can enjoy the variety of natural landscapes depending on the altitude. Arrival in Aguas Calientes and bus ride to the entrance of Machu Picchu. Guided tour of the Machu Picchu ruins for about 2 hours, visiting the main sites of your tour. In the evening, return by bus to Aguas Calientes. Train ride back to Ollantaytambo, arrival and transfer to your hotel in Cusco. Overnight in Cusco.
Day 9: Cusco
Breakfast at the hotel. Free day at your own disposal. Overnight stay in Cusco.
Day 10: Cusco - Lima
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the airport to board your flight to the city of Lima. Arrival and immediate international connecting flight.
